Moses and the Ten Commandments

Moses (Moshe in Hebrew) is regarded as the greatest prophet and most significant leader in Jewish tradition. According to the Torah, he was the only person to speak with God face-to-face. Chosen by the Divine to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, Moses guided them to Mount Sinai, where he received the Torah—an event that shaped the spiritual and moral foundation of Judaism. His name is believed to derive from the Egyptian mesu, meaning “son,” and possibly ma’zeh, meaning “savior.” Throughout the Bible, Moses is portrayed as a faithful servant of God, entrusted with delivering his people from bondage and leading them toward the Promised Land.
