$135.00

Hygieia was the Greek goddess of health and cleanliness, part of a divine family devoted to wellness. She was one of the daughters of Asclepius, the god of medicine, whose father was Apollo, also known as a healer and protector. Asclepius, born mortal, was granted godhood after his death for his service to humanity. His children continued his work: his mortal sons became physicians, while his divine daughters represented different aspects of medical care. Hygieia’s name means “health” in Ancient Greek, and she was the most prominent among her sisters. Aglaea symbolized the beauty of good health, Panacea stood for universal cures, Aceso governed the healing process, and Iaso oversaw recovery. Hygieia was closely linked to her father but focused on preventing illness and maintaining ongoing health, embodying the ideal of well-being that made the need for healing unnecessary.
